Don’t Blame DJs, Radio Owners Are The Reason For Payola In The System- GhCALI

Published

on

Hiplife/Afro Pop musician, GhCALI has slammed radio station owners in Ghana for playing a role in radio DJ’s demanding money before playing their songs.

The music industry, according to GhCALI, is no more attractive because owners of radio and TV stations fail to pay their Presenters and DJs well so the DJs and Presenters always demand money from musicians before they will promote their music.

Speaking on Canada based radio station, GhCALI said that the attitude of the media owners is also affecting musicians and they should share the blame when musicians are not getting radio airplay.

“The media owners don’t pay the DJs and radio Presenters well, so they demand money before your music is played. You have to give them money (Payola). Even if you have a nice song” he said.

GhCALI However comparing Ghana to Canada said that, his songs are being played in Canada without paying a dime unlike Ghana. He said;
“In Canada, you ain’t gonna get your song on the radio if it doesn’t fit into a radio format. So we normally study other artistes that are on the radio, analyze their writing skills, figure out what is getting them on the radio or we just make sure we produce a nice and quality music and that’s all. But in Ghana, whether your song is a nice song or whatever you will still pay for airplay which is not helping us”.
As a reminder, GhCALI is a Ghanaian born Canada-based musician who is doing very well outside the country. He is currently promoting his new songs “Strong Waist” featuring Patapaa and “Summer Time” which features Shatta Wale.

‘I Won’t Stop Beefing Shatta Wale’- Stonebwoy Drops Bombshell
By BB Jones – November 14, 2019

Just when we thought the beef between Stonebwoy and his long time rival Shatta Wale has fizzled out following their historic reconciliation held through a joint press conference organised on June 4, 2019 at Mariot Hotel in Accra, Stonebwoy is saying something different now.

Appearing in the studios of Okay FM, Stonebwoy said despite his new found friendship he has established with his rival, he still has some element of the beef in him and would reignite it once the SM boss makes a mistake.

When Abeiku Santana asked him if the beef has ended entirely, Stonebwoy said: “Ghanaians love these vibe indeed. But for now I’ll plead that they support our craft so that we go international with our music and rob shoulders with our Nigerian counterparts.“

He continued that: “When they support our music, at some point the beef will happen naturally. We don’t beef intentionally; it happens naturally. As for the beef there’s some still left.

I will continue to beef him. I keep scaring him. And that’s what makes the Bhim nation and SM strong. So it’s just a matter time for one to make a mistake to reignite our beef.”

Popular Singer Fameye, whose two beautiful songs, ‘Nothing I Get’ and ‘Mati’ have become street anthems everywhere in Ghana, has revealed in an new interview about how he struggled to make any headway when he was an ‘underground’ artist.

Fameye had a rather sad childhood, having lost both parents before he grew up. To make matters worst for him, his music career was gloomy as he struggled to make any impression on his listeners which was even compounded by mockery from people.

The mockery started when people told him that Medikal, who was Fameye’s junior in school, was making it big whiles he was nowhere near his level.

He told Sammy Flex that this got him frustrated and he consequently tried everything within his power to ‘blow’ at all cost.

He said Medikal upon realizing how he (Fameye) was desperate to catch up sent him a message that inspired him to work harder and focus on his craft.

And that message, he noted, changed his life forever.

Although budding rapper Kofi Mole is a student of religion and also from a strong religious home, therefore, it’s quite fascinating for him to absent himself from church for the past ten years.

In the voice of Kofi Mole, his mother is a staunch member of the church of Pentecost and holds a position in the church as well but he has been absent from church for the past 10 years since he started doing active music.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Oboadie, host of “After Hours” on Adom TV, Kofi Mole stated emphatically that his weird hairstyle is a major factor for his absenteeism from church. To his best knowledge, he doesn’t like how the congregants stare at him anytime he enters church.

Therefore, to avoid humiliation, he advised himself to halt anything church until he cuts off his dreadlock. Interestingly, Kofi Mole revealed that he’s not ready to cut off his dreads anytime soon. This presupposes that all those praying and hoping to see Kofi Mole in the church are simply building castles in the air.
