The Bronx rapper shared a video on Twitter to celebrate the festival, in which she performs a remix of the famous Mexican song “La Chona.”

“HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO you dirty Americans!!!!!,” she captioned the post.

After her post, a fan commented that she “never beat the Mexican accusations”, to which she responded by pointing out that since she was already accused of being Mexican, she should “embrace” her roots.

“I mean they claim I’m Mexican… I might as well embrace my new nationality lol,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. However, in reality, the rapper has Dominican and Trinidadian roots.
Cinco de Mayo is an annual celebration held on May 5 to celebrate Mexico’s victory over the Second French Empire at the Battle of Pueblo in 1862 led by General Ignacio Zaragoza.
